FAQ

How to get proper use out of a Fox Valley aerosol paint can!

TRAFFIC & PARKING LOTS

Fox Valley Super Supreme Traffic Spray Paint is built specifically for parking lots, warehouse floors, and paved surfaces. It dries in minutes, delivers crisp 2–4 inch lines, and stays vibrant through heavy traffic and rough weather. Available in 7 colors including white, yellow, blue (ADA-compliant), and red for fire lanes. For the quickest start, our Traffic Starter Kit bundles the paint and machine together.

ADA-compliant handicap spaces require specific blue line markings and the international accessibility symbol. Fox Valley Super Supreme Traffic Spray Paint is available in blue and works perfectly for this. Pair it with our Heavy Duty Handicap Stencil for clean, code-compliant results. The standard requires a minimum 8-foot wide space with a 5-foot access aisle. See our full guide: ADA Parking Lot Compliance.

Most commercial parking lots use 4-inch wide lines as the standard. Some municipalities and high-visibility applications use 6-inch lines. Fox Valley Super Supreme Traffic Paint used with the Super Striper machine delivers consistent 2–4 inch lines. Read more: Standard Parking Lot Line Width.

The sweet spot is 50°F to 90°F. Below 50°F the paint won't cure properly and can peel. Above 90°F in direct sun it may dry too fast to bond well. The pavement surface itself must also be above 50°F and completely dry. Full details: Best Temperature for Spray Striping Paint.

On fresh asphalt you can overpaint with a darker color or let the sun fade the error over time. On concrete, a concrete-colored paint can mask the mistake before re-striping. For prevention, always use chalk snap lines or a string guide before running the machine. Full walkthrough: How to Fix Crooked Parking Lot Lines.

You absolutely can do it yourself. That is exactly what our Paint Your Own Lot Starter Kit was designed for. No compressor or power source needed. Hundreds of business owners, property managers, and HOAs use it every season. Step-by-step guide: DIY Parking Lot Striping Guide.

ATHLETIC FIELDS

Yes. Fox Valley Super Stripe Athletic Field Marking Paint is specially formulated to be safe for both natural grass and synthetic turf. It does not brown or damage the grass, fades naturally with rain and mowing, and will not void synthetic turf warranties when applied as directed.

Our athletic paint works for football, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, rugby, field hockey, and obstacle courses. The Athletic Field Starter Kit comes with everything needed to mark any of these fields. For multi-sport fields, see our Multi-Sport Field Color-Coding Guide.

Typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on usage intensity, mowing frequency, and rainfall. High-traffic areas like center circles and goal boxes fade faster than perimeter sidelines. A fresh coat before game day takes 15–20 minutes with the athletic striping machine.

Use the Fox Valley Athletic Striping Machine for long straight lines and the Marking Wand or Marking Pistol for curved areas and freehand details. Full guide: How to Stripe a Baseball Field.

Measure and stake the four corners, snap chalk lines, then use the Athletic Super Striper Machine for touchlines, goal lines, and the halfway line. Use a string-and-stake compass guide with the Marking Wand for the center circle and penalty arcs. Full guide: Soccer Field Lining Guide.

UTILITY MARKING

Both are inverted aerosol cans you spray pointing downward. Marks All follows the APWA/AWPA standard color codes for professional underground utility marking (electric, gas, water, telecom, sewer, etc.). Easy Marker is a broader general-purpose marking paint for golf courses, landscaping, surveying, and jobsite freehand marking. Full comparison: Easy Marker vs Marks All.

The APWA Uniform Color Code standards: Red (electric), Yellow (gas/oil), Orange (communications), Blue (potable water), Green (sewer/drain), Purple (reclaimed water), Pink (temporary survey). Full chart: AWPA Utility Color Codes.

Yes. Both the Easy Marker Pistol and the Marking Wand are designed to hold and trigger Easy Marker cans without bending down. The pistol is great for close work; the 34-inch wand is ideal for walking long stretches. Both fit standard Easy Marker cans and are sold separately.

MACHINES & STARTER KITS

The Paint Your Own Lot Traffic Starter Kit includes one Super Striper Traffic Line Striping Machine plus your choice of 6 or 12 cans of Super Supreme Traffic Spray Paint. No electricity, no air compressor, no special skills needed. Everything ships in one box.

All current Fox Valley green striping machines use a green "spade tip" nozzle. If you have an older orange machine (roughly 15+ years old) it uses the legacy "H tip" nozzle, which we have in limited supply. We strongly recommend upgrading. Call us at (844) 627-5255 if you are unsure what you have.

The Traffic Striping Machine is optimized for hard, paved surfaces. The Athletic Striping Machine uses larger wheels designed to roll smoothly over grass without tearing the turf. Using the wrong machine on the wrong surface can result in uneven lines or surface damage.

Nine times out of ten it is a clogged nozzle. Remove it and soak in diluted paint thinner, or swap in a clean spare. If using a striping machine, check the discharge area for dried paint buildup and scrape clean with a screwdriver. Also make sure you shook the can until the mixing ball rattled freely, then shook for another 30 full seconds.

Yes. The Paint Your Own Field Starter Kit includes the Athletic Super Striper Machine and 12 cans of Super Stripe Athletic Field Marking Paint. Works for soccer, football, baseball, softball, rugby, and lacrosse. See all options on our Starter Kits page.

Store cans in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Never store in sub-freezing temperatures. Ideal storage is between 55°F and 80°F. After partial use, always clear the nozzle by holding the can upright and pressing until only clear propellant comes out this prevents clogging and extends can life.
